Why does my head and eye hurt?

My left eye is throbbing not irritated, and my head hurts only of the left side.I've had a normal day and this happens once in a while to me. I've had a nap and it still hasn't gone away. I just took Advil but medicine usually doesn't work. I'm looking for how it happened and how to stop it.
