How long does it take for fluid to drain out of ear?

I have a bad ear infection, and there is thick fluid leaking out onto my cotton ball. Only a teeny bit at a time though. I went to the DR and she prescribed drops, and an antibiotic. I take advil with that, and i have no pain. But i have a bad fullness in my ear along with ringing. When will the fullness and ringing go away?
