My ear hurts when I burp?

I took some Alka Seltzer plus like 3 hours ago. I have a cold, and my left ear was all stuffed up. So I took that and it go rid of all of the stuffage in my ear, but now it's like making me burp a lot. And whenever I burp my left ear hurts (that was stuffed up before). I don't know why, and now it's just starting to hurt. I went to the doctor today because my ear was hurting and she said I didn't have strep or an ear infection. I just had a lot of fluid in my ear. So I took an advil when I got home and my ear stopped hurting for the most part. And then I went to the mall, and my ear got all stuffed up. So when I got home I took the Alka Seltzer plus, it had been 5 hours since I took the advil. Why does it hurt when I burp, and why does it just hurt? What do I do to get rid of this? Please help!
